KITCHEN: THE HEART OF CONTEMPORARY LIVING IN THE ALGARVE
The Algarve has become synonymous with a distinctive way of living, where contemporary architecture, generous spaces and a natural continuity between indoors and outdoors come together. In this context, within the most prestigious residential projects, the kitchen is increasingly at the heart of a concept centred around social living: no longer simply a place to cook, but a space to live, share and entertain.

From Quinta do Lago to Vale do Lobo and Albufeira, Leiken’s latest projects reflect this vision of contemporary living. Different personalities and styles, united by the same bespoke approach to design.
The Island as the Architectural Centre of the Kitchen
In generous contemporary spaces, large islands become more than work surfaces: they organise the kitchen, connect functions and create a natural place for sharing.
At Atlantic Villa, a spectacular contemporary residence designed by architect João Cabrita and overlooking the coast, a monumental island in Atlas Plan Black Atlantis Silk creates a striking contrast with the light-filled architecture.
At Quinta do Lago Living, the generous island combines preparation and cooking with a large L-shaped snack area designed for informal socialising.
At Albufeira Art Villa, Atlas Plan Exotic Wave transforms the island into an almost artistic statement, with emerald green and ivory veins continuing across the worktops and full-height backsplash.
Three different interpretations that demonstrate how scale, materiality and lifestyle can transform the island into the true centre of the home.
When Hospitality Shapes Design
In the Algarve, welcoming and entertaining increasingly influence the way contemporary homes are designed.
Caveau Bar and Quinta do Lago Living reveal another aspect of Leiken’s expertise: bespoke home bars and sophisticated wine rooms, where design meets wine culture. Custom solutions capable of accommodating more than 320 bottles, integrated refrigeration systems, atmospheric lighting and meticulously designed display areas transform these spaces into an integral part of the home and its social life.
This evolution also helps explain the growing interest in the concept of dry and wet kitchens in large contemporary residences. A more social, open and visually refined kitchen can coexist with a separate operational space dedicated to more intensive preparation and washing, allowing each area to respond to a different aspect of everyday life.
Beyond the Kitchen
Leiken’s bespoke approach does not necessarily end with the kitchen.
Bars, wine rooms, wet kitchens and even laundry rooms can become part of a broader and more cohesive interior design project. The same attention to materials, functionality, storage and detail can be applied to different areas of the home, creating spaces designed around the architecture and, above all, the habits of the people who live there.
This is precisely the vision that connects Leiken’s projects in the Algarve: design that begins with the way people want to live in their homes.
From a kitchen overlooking the Atlantic to a private wine room designed for entertaining, each project becomes a different interpretation of contemporary living: personal, functional and deeply connected to its surroundings.
